use text on your website

One of the easiest ways to give your SEO a boost is to simply write more text. Google loves words—real words, not words hidden inside images or graphics.

Now, this doesn’t mean you should stuff your website with fluff or awkward keyword phrases. But generally speaking, pages with more helpful, relevant text tend to perform better in search rankings. Why? Because search engines are still text-based. They scan your site, read your content, and try to figure out what you’re about—and how helpful you are to the person doing the search.

Don’t Hide Good Content Inside Images

Here’s a common mistake we see: Christian business owners receive a beautiful handwritten letter from a grateful customer. It’s heartfelt, sincere, and filled with praise. So what do they do? They snap a photo of it and upload it to their website.

That’s awesome for your human visitors—but Google can’t read it.

From Google’s point of view, it might as well be a stock photo of a squirrel. It can’t tell that it’s a glowing review of your service. The text is locked inside the image, and unless someone on the search team is manually typing in “Best plumber in Houston” while looking at your gallery, it’s doing nothing to help you show up on Google.

What You Should Do Instead

If you receive a letter, email, or even a card with a great testimonial, feel free to upload the image—but also include the text underneath it in plain HTML.

Here’s a simple format that works well:

“We were so impressed with the service, and your team was a blessing to work with!”

– Judy from Scottsdale, AZ

That way, you still show the original letter (which is personal and warm), but you also give Google what it needs to help more people find you.

Bonus Tip: More Text = More Keywords

When you add real text to your site, you create more opportunities for keywords to show up naturally. That means when someone Googles something like “Christian family therapist in Mesa”, and your text mentions that exact phrase, there’s a better chance your site will pop up.

Don’t overdo it, though—write like a real person, not a spam robot. Just keep in mind that every helpful paragraph you add makes your website more useful, both to your visitors and to search engines.
